Don't try to find any rationality in this car capable of reaching speeds of 273mph. It’s all about passion, performance and the search for perfection. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is a work of art.
“With the Chiron Super Sport, we are following our long-standing tradition of combining top speed with absolute luxury”, says Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti. “It is the essence of what we learned and developed in recent years–the ultimate grand tourer.” The specs behind this open road rocket are certainly impressive: 1,600 horsepower, 1,600 Nm torque (basically the equivalent of 4 high-performance sports cars), 0 – 124mph in 5.8 seconds while others can boast just 0 – 60mph in the same time, and a top speed of 273mph. All in the utmost comfort. But of course, it’s a Bugatti we’re talking about! A philosophy summed up in this voluntarily kitsch clip, with the start line at the port of Cannes:
The engineers in Molsheim (Bas-Rhin) have developed aerodynamic miracles to enable this hypercar to achieve its maximum speed while remaining in its category of luxury and comfort. Compared to its earlier versions, the “regular” Chirons (if you can say anything about a Chiron is regular), the Super Sport has a new low-slung front, a special aerodynamic shape at the sides and an extended rear. The longtail bodywork gives the car new proportions which serve to enhance its elegance.
The interior, a blend of leather, polished aluminium and carbon fibre applications, is, according to the brand, “perfectly suited to high-speed continental trips”. A description that we here at SoBARNES find particularly enticing. And for the detail that will turn heads at dinner parties: the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 wheels, designed for a top speed of 310mph, were tested on a machine designed to test tires fitted to the Space Shuttle!
The first of these nifty new toys sold at €3.2M excluding tax (around £2.7M) are scheduled for delivery in early 2022.
