The changing of the guard, Moto Guzzi style

This motorbike is one of the surprise stars bringing 2021 to a close. The V85 TT Guardia d’Onore celebrates 75 years of collaboration between Moto Guzzi and the Italian Cuirassiers’ Regiment. A limited series - what could be more SoBARNES?

It all began in 1946, when the Cuirassiers’ Regiment, the special Carabinieri unit responsible for the honour guard and security of the President of the Italian Republic, chose Moto Guzzi as its first motorcycles. The Head of State’s guards have been riding bikes manufactured in Mandello del Lario for 75 years thanks to this uninterrupted partnership. The Eagle brand manufacturer is celebrating this symbolic and prestigious collaboration with the V85 TT Guardia d’Onore, an almost exact replica of the one delivered to the Quirinal Palace last May.

The Guardia d’Onore limited series sports the traditional black and white livery of the V85 TT, the motorbikes dedicated to the protection of the Italian Head of State, Sergio Mattarella, with some specific features like the oversized windscreen adorned with a tricolour green-white-red flag, supplementary lights and engine guard bars.

A total of 1,946 Moto Guzzi V85 TT Guardia d’Onore units will be produced worldwide. A number, as you may have noticed, reminiscent of the year this collaboration began, as well as the year the Italian Republic was established. The series issue number is engraved on the handlebars, from 1 to 1946. It goes without saying that these bikes are already considered collectables. Their price has not yet been officially revealed, but orders can still be placed... as long as you don't leave it too late!
