The leisure destination of the court of Louis XV in the 18th century, Passy has also welcomed visits from other illustrious figures such as Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Honoré de Balzac and Marcel Proust. Excellence comes naturally to this peaceful district with its Haussmann buildings and charming, undiscovered streets lined with steps and ivy. Its proximity to the Bois de Boulogne offers a breath of fresh air, while luxury hotels and gardens intersperse its thoroughfares. From the Longchamp and Auteuil hippodromes to the courts of Roland Garros, and from flagship museums to outstanding schools, chic boutiques and trendy restaurants, it doesn't get much more exclusive than Passy.
The real estate market
Prices in the 16th arrondissement as a whole have risen by 19.6% in five years, and by 3% in one year. Average prices are now at around €10,670 per square metre generally speaking, €9,880 sq.m for Auteuil and just over €11,000 in the Muette-Passy neighbourhood. The vitality of the market has prompted BARNES to open a third agency in the sector this coming November, in Auteuil.
Our advice
If you have a property with an exterior (garden, terrace, large balcony), now’s the time to sell. Demand is strong and we are here to assist every step of the way.
The proximity to the shops and transport services, the quality of the schools and the immediate road axes out of Paris all make the villages of Auteuil and Muette-Passy ideal for families. Trocadéro, Etoile and Victor Hugo all attract a foreign clientèle.
Inside tip
Given, the increase in the cost of materials and the tension in the renovation market we would recommend first and foremost properties that don't require much work and those without flaws, even “costly”, which remain liquid short-term investments. - Eléna Jacquin and Frédérique Verrier-Pytel, Director and Associate Director BARNES Passy-La Muette
Art de vivre
Home to an array of museums and concert halls, teeming with inebriating boutiques and abounding with sophisticated restaurants, Passy is a love affair.
