According to tradition

We have a little riddle for you: In Gstaad, where do you go to see and be seen when you need to be seen while pretending you didn't see anything? Careful, there is only one answer, and it’s found in the Olden, the mythical restaurant of the resort.

This charming Swiss chalet, with its balconies flowered in summer and winter, is located ideally in the heart of the village, just on its pedestrian street. A true ancestral chalet, truly picturesque and ready for a snapshot at any time, as we love them. The decor, although newly renovated, respects the institution, as well as the presence of its illustrious guests: the royal family of Savoy, the Halliday, Hugh Grant, Alain Prost, the Bertarelli family ...

We like to come for a drink on the terrace in the late afternoon, with a fur blanket on the knees if the temperature drops too low, too fast. Or perhaps a little later, in the heat of the ultra-cozy bar to savor a little white wine by the fireside with a plate of Grisons meat ( "Bündnerfleisch" to those who are not bilingual). And at noon, the atmosphere is relaxed, but always chic. The non-skiers (above average in this resort) enjoy the terrace, a nice table, and the 5-star service that goes with.

Tonight, we know that the evening will be beautiful because it resembles all other evenings - and so, tradition obliges. And at the Olden, one respects tradition. Massimo Nava, the butler, reigns (since … actually, the beginning) over his domain with kindness and an efficiency that precedes our desires. This evening, he proposes a minced veal with Zurich and Rösti, linguine with truffles, and the famous chocolate mousse Toblerone. The chef's cuisine is particularly delicious and the presentation a delight. The night ended in beauty, and after an aperitif, we left La Cave in a daze.

And to continue the tradition, we will return again, and again, and again.
