A pop-up bookstore in Paris by Louis Vuitton

When Louis Vuitton Publishing decides to set up its winter quarters in Paris, it has to be at the Brach, the most fashionable hotel in the 16th arrondissement. Until 18 January, the ground floor of this 5* hotel dedicated to art de vivre will be hosting a Vuitton pop-up bookstore. A 100% SoBARNES collaboration, complete with a click & collect option, of course.

It’s a secret known only to insiders: with its close ties to the world of travel thanks to its heritage as a trunk maker, Louis Vuitton has published a collection of travel guides since 1998, presenting 30 world cities from an infinitely personal perspective. An exclusive selection of hotels, restaurants and addresses that simply ooze quality and originality. In the style of logbooks, the Louis Vuitton Travel Book series contains sketches of cities, landscapes and encounters for each destination, from major cities to the most exotic regions. Renowned artists and promising young talents fill the pages of these stories of poetry and escape, told through diverse modes of expression: collage, painting, sketches, cartoons, manga and illustrations.

Our favourite has to be Fashion Eye, photo albums that unveil a city, a region or a country through the lens of an established or emerging photographer. A melting pot of travel and fashion.

If you haven't (yet) heard of the Brach, now’s the time to make its acquaintance! In a quiet street in La Muette, between Ranelagh and Trocadéro (just slightly out of the typical Parisian nerve centre), Philippe Starck has put his all into revamping this hotel that teeters on Modernism, Bauhaus, Dada and Surrealisms. With its 59 bedrooms and suits, its terraces and its rooftop overlooking the roofs of Paris and the Eiffel Tower, the Hotel Brach is (under normal circumstances) a world in its own right, cosmopolitan and surprising.

Thanks to its pools, its sports club, its bar, its restaurant, its grocery store and its pastry shop, it brings together all of the cultures and appetites that make Paris so effervescent! Even while cooped up, it’s worth a look. Even if just for its pop-up bookstore so that you can dream of far away places.
