Hôtel des Bergues: a world of wellness

The ultimate benchmark when it comes to elegance in Geneva, the Hôtel des Bergues is launching the “In Census” wellness programme combining medical expertise and personal coaching. All, of course, with a healthy dose of luxury. .

GENEVA - The Hôtel des Bergues is a legend. Since its creation in 1834, with its ravishing views of the lake, the old town and the snow-capped summits of the Alps, Geneva’s oldest hotel has been a must for discerning travellers and statesmen from around the world. A 100% #SoBARNES destination, there’s no doubt about it! This historic luxury hotel has maintained its youthful appearance and is confirming its modernity with the announcement of an exclusive collaboration with Hôpital de La Tour, in Geneva, to launch “In Census”. Renowned for its expertise in sports medicine (as a recognised Swiss Olympic Medical Center), Hôpital de La Tour is offering customers at the Hôtel des Bergues a personalised medical check-up and assessment to meet well-defined needs and objectives.

The programme starts with an individual consultation and full work-up at the Sports Medicine Department and the Performance Laboratory at Hôpital de La Tour. Blood tests, osteopathic examinations, muscle strength assessments and exercise endurance evaluations are carried out to highlight key areas to improve. The in-depth consultation also includes a comprehensive metabolic assessment that measures an extensive set of medical biomarkers.

Gentle revitalisation

Once the first results of the check-up are available (at the end of the morning), the Hôtel des Bergues Sports Coach creates a personalised programme that takes into account individual needs and built on different pillars: metabolic balance and weight loss, muscle development, sports performance, and relaxation and optimal tissue regeneration. These have been specifically designed by Sébastien Saillard, the coach at the Hôtel des Bergues. The training sessions are set against the stunning backdrop of the Geneva landscape, and include treks in the surrounding mountains and running sessions along the shores of Lake Geneva. Swimming, aqua biking, aqua tonic and aqua boxing all help revitalise muscles without placing too much strain on joints. Other activities include boxing, yoga and open-air meditation.

The Spa naturally has a hammam, a heated indoor swimming pool, as well as a state-of-the-art fitness centre. Meals are tailor-made from produce sourced locally, mainly from organic farms, and can be served at one of the hotel restaurants or in the comfort of a private room for greater privacy. Throughout the 3- to 7-day programme, the Hospital liaises closely with the Hotel to keep track of developments, and a doctor monitors progress with a thorough evaluation and assessment after 14 days.

This wellness treatment is also an opportunity to admire the decoration at the Hôtel des Bergues, a sumptuous masterpiece by Pierre-Yves Rochon. A unique establishment, recommended by #SoBARNES without hesitation!
