Buy a desert island in Polynesia

An island is not like other properties. And a desert island is certainly not. And when you hear it’s just a stone’s throw from Bora Bora and that it is the backdrop for the 2021 season of French reality show Koh-Lanta, you’ll understand why this private tour is unlike any other. SoBARNES takes you to French Polynesia!

Before you, Marlon Brando discovered the atoll of Tetiaora in 1960 while filming Mutiny on the Bounty and, bowled over by its beauty, decided to move there. And now it’s your turn to discover Raouro. This untouched motu (island) spanning 17 acres is considered one of the jewels of the Taha'a lagoon in the Leeward Islands. Sheltered by a coral reef, it boasts over half a mile of white sandy beaches washed by transparent waters, a coconut grove and views to die for, particularly of the sunset over the island of Bora Bora.

Free of any constructions, this ultimate paradise is just waiting for its new owners and a little development work to transform into a secondary residence (and why not primary?). A luxury Robinson Crusoe’s hideaway. The island can also be turned into an exclusive hotel that promotes sustainable development. Just picture the bungalows on stilts plunging straight into the clear waters.

Sheltered from prying eyes but easy to access, the Rauoro motu is a 15-minute boat ride from the island of Taha'a and the sublime Relais & Châteaux of the same name. A water taxi will take you to Raiatea airport in no time at all, and from there the world is your oyster!

It’s not by chance that Raouro has been the backdrop for the last two seasons of French TV show Koh-Lanta (based on the popular international Survivor format), including the one currently airing on TF1. This slice of paradise is where the men’s motu is set on the game show, obviously in a more spartan version than the aforementioned hotel development!

Edmond Tran of BARNES Exclusive Properties has spent a lot of time in Tahiti. Needless to say the idyllic Polynesian atolls and enchanting islands hold no secrets for him. “A motu like Rauoro coming onto the market is an event in itself”, says Edmond. “I’ve not seen another like it, in terms of pure beauty as well as its location and development possibilities!”

The sale price of this gem is €13 million.
