In search of the Corsican immortelle

This eco-responsible villa for rent in Cala Rossa has all of that je-ne-sais-quoi that makes exceptional properties. We would be more than happy to lay down our hat here, as they say. Or should it be beach towel? How about you?

Did you know that Corsica is home to a miracle plant that combats wrinkles, helps heal wounds, eases bruises, combats rosacea, regulates acne, improves venous circulation and soothes muscular pains after exercise? What possesses all of these virtues? The Corsican immortelle, also known as Italian strawflower or Helichrysum italicum. Belonging to the Asteraceae family, it is said that its flower never wilts, hence its name. Virtually free from allergenic properties, it is used in the form of essential oil and distillate or as an active ingredient in the production of balms.

A jealously guarded secret, but one you will perhaps be lucky enough to learn if you stay at this villa just a stone’s throw from the beaches of Cala Rossa. The name of this marvel of contemporary architecture, A Maredda, means (you guessed it) Immortelle of Corsica...

As you step through the gates of A Maredda, you discover an exceptional villa in every sense of the term. Its deliberately graphic style, combining straight lines, Corsican stone and wood, blends marvellously into this legendary landscape, set between sea and mountains. You reach the beaches before you can blink, through a gate leading to paradise: eight deckchairs and sunshades await the (lucky) occupants of the villa, in a reserved area close to the Le Rancho restaurant.

What more is there to add? Except that the choice of materials and the technical solutions provided for the floor cooling systems, the air recirculation and the optimised insulation are an ode to sustainable development. And perhaps, a side note on the large picture windows that flood each room with light, particularly the four bedrooms and the independent studio apartment. Could this truly be where happiness is found? From the roof terrace, the 360° view left us speechless.

Like the Corsican Immortelle, this villa most definitely has therapeutic virtues. Rent it for your vacations with BARNES Corse.
