It’s a tradition. In the last weekend of August, you and your loved ones get together under the thatched roofs of your house in Guérande. No-one would dream of missing it! The six bedrooms are already occupied, and the grandchildren are pitching their tents in the 25-acre field. A fishing tournament on the lake, a diving competition in the swimming pool, a giant game of hide-and-seek and (mostly) friendly football matches. You can smell apricot tart in the kitchen and freshly cut flowers in the lounge. Cousins come as neighbours. Neighbours come as friends. And summer lasts forever. Isn’t life beautiful?
