Verbier, mountains and marvels

In the heart of the Valais region, chalets stretch out to the horizon in a palette of warm browns, facing the spectacular vista offered by this authentic village from the wild expanses of the Haut Val de Bagnes to the picturesque charm of the neighbouring hamlets. Easily accessed by train and with its own free shuttle bus network, Verbier is connected to the 4 Vallées ski area with its 410km (255 miles) of slopes and is Switzerland's leading ski resort. The region’s restaurants serve up tasty local products when you’re not enjoying the sophisticated hotel bars and the sumptuous spas or simply tucked up in after an invigorating day out in the open air.

The real estate market

Prices have risen by 15% over the past five years to reach between CHF 15 000 and 40 000 per square metre. Demand is constant, with a new phenomenon of primary residence acquisitions (modern infrastructure, proximity to international schools in Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich) among an international clientèle.

Our advice

The sectors to focus on are “Le Hameau”, a coveted neighbourhood in an exceptional setting (pedestrian zone, ski-in/ski-out, small pond) at the top of the resort, and Les Esserts, a residential area near the golf course.

Inside tip

Given the recent changes in prices, buyers need to act quickly. The rental return here is guaranteed at a high level. For vendors, the time is ideal. Demand is strong which means a good price is assured. - Rosario GALLINA, Director of BARNES Verbier

Intenso, the soul of Italy condensed in Verbier. Meticulously matured cheeses and finely cut charcuterie all embody the essence of the dolce vita! We have a particular soft spot for the home-made Napolitan pizzas that are just as delicious as though they were made in Campania itself.
