Ibiza, where nightlife meets nature

A light that captivates even the greatest photographers, white houses with colourful shutters, a mild Mediterranean climate, fine sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters: Ibiza is a truly entrancing island. Popular with hippies and the jet set in the 70s, the world party capital is now the pearl of the Balearic Islands. Wild and bustling, teeming with restaurants, bars, art galleries and miraculously unspoilt locations home to Phoenician and Punic remains and the 200 bird species of the Ses Salines Natural Park, it draws a high-flying international clientèle. A clientèle that is increasingly making the island the centre of a new way of life.

The real estate market

The property market in Ibiza and on the neighbouring island of Formentera has seen a 15 to 20% rise over five years. Prices vary enormously depending on the location and the type of property, making it difficult to give an average. Expect around €7,500 per square metre in general, but remember that stunning villas on the seafront with views, particularly in the southwest of the island - Es Cubells - go for much more.

Our advice

"Now’s the time to make a move here”.

“Spanning 572 square kilometres (220.7 sq mi) divided into five municipalities, each corner of the island has its own ambiance. San José is the island’s highest peak, Santa Eulalia is lined by the only river in the Balearics, San Antonio boasts magnificent sunsets, and Ibiza in general prides itself on its festive atmosphere. It’s a sound investment, whether you’re thinking of moving with your family or you’re on the hunt for a second home. Our Barnes consultants are here to guide you and advise you on the legal and planning and design aspects.

The secret to Ibiza

Fans of the countryside and a simple way of life should look to Sant Joan... The west coast is filled with idyllic beaches: Cala Comte, Cala Bassa... Accessible by ferry only from Ibiza, the little island of Formentera will delight those in search of calm and authenticity. - Antonio TORRALBA, manager of BARNES Ibiza.
