The 5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0arrondissement, at the heart of Paris\u2019 historic quarter, has a number of assets in this field: a family-friendly atmosphere, local shops, bars and restaurants in large numbers, numerous <em>grandes \u00e9coles<\/em> and universities, including the Sorbonne university and the Ecole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure graduate school, as well as reputed secondary schools (Louis le Grand, Henri IV, etc.). Although it\u2019s known for the lively ambiance of the Latin quarter, this arrondissement is also home to many apartments offering complete peace and quiet, yet close to the urban entertainment. Its location, surrounded by the 4<sup>th<\/sup>, 6<sup>th<\/sup>, 13<sup>th<\/sup> and 14<sup>th<\/sup> arrondissements and its centrality make the 5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0arrondissement one of Paris\u2019 most coveted areas, \u201c<em>With recent events, \u2018pleasure\u2019 purchases come second, while necessity purchases have gained importance<\/em>\u201d, observes Julien Meguidech, Director of the new BARNES Panth\u00e9on agency. Family buyers with clearly defined projects, however, remain determined to see their transactions through<\/em>\u201d, adds Julien Meguidech. So who\u2019s buying? The client\u00e8le is composed of French buyers who are particularly fond of their neighbourhoods and expatriates looking to return to Paris and on the lookout for the same quality of life they had abroad. The other characteristic of the arrondissement is that it promotes the sustainability of existing buildings, with a relatively limited number of new constructions. Its \u201c<em>historic and traditional<\/em>\u201d aspect merely enhances its friendly atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>The 13<sup>th<\/sup> and 14<sup>th<\/sup> arrondissements are composed of small bohemian, daring, personal and artistic villages. Parisians are rediscovering the charm of these arrondissements, whose popularity is on a solid upward trend when it comes to real estate.
