A great combo-destination with historic sites, 155 miles of beautiful coastline and cliffs, caves, idyllic beaches, and delicious fish. And to think that we are In Europe, in southern Portugal, in Algarve. A favorite destination of Lisboners, here’s why …

This fascinating city (more than 2,000-years-old) is also revered for its sandstone cliffs that border its sandy white beaches. Lagos offers a breathtaking landscape straight out of Ushuaia (the show). The Praia Dona Ana is sublime, completely gilded with rocks in the middle of crystal-clear waters. In the coastal area of Ponta da Piedade, the coves should be discovered from the top of the trail or the bottom, by boat or, even better, by canoe to sneak through the caves and climb up rocks. Adventurers will love it, you will have to play the part of an apprentice sailor to access some of these beautiful open caves of limestone.

Albufeira is the lively, touristic destination of Algarve. Here, you will never be bored. Excursions, beaches, and parties are on the agenda. Each beach is more beautiful than the next: Falesia Beach, Praia dos Salgados, offering beautiful walks, stunning panoramas, and great seafood restaurants. And for a breath of fresh air, a visit to the Benagil caves, especially the one known as the Cathedral, it’s one of the most beautiful marine caves in the world, where you’ll have 3 options: to swim, boat or kayak. Our advice, be adventurous (but cautious) and ask a fisherman to take you on his boat.

In the evening, go to the Strip (no, we’re not in Vegas) to have a good time. This lively street is the place to spend the night, far from the city center, to preserve the tranquility of vacationers and locals who love silence. Music is in full swing in its many bars and discos. A little birdie told us that you have rhythm in your blood, is that right?

If the Algarve is the Portuguese Riviera, then Vilamoura would be Saint-Tropez. It’s the elegant seaside resort of Southern Portugal. A chic spot and delightful harbor where yachts (of great size, which we prefer) are docked and the restaurants are the sanctuaries of great chefs. The beaches and coves shelter sparkling water, a little fresh as the Atlantic obliges. To the joy of sailing enthusiasts, many regattas are organized here. Our golfing friends also find themselves in paradise, with 5 beautiful courses welcoming the official championships, including the famous 27 holes of the Oceanico O'Connor Junior Course. And to perfect the scene, villas are luxurious, large, white, and open out onto patios and beautiful swimming pools to accommodate large families and friends.

Contact our real estate agency BARNES Portugal If you’re looking for a total change of scenery, rest assured this dazzling region is it.Lagos and its caves
