\u201cThe People\u2019s Republic of the Upper West Side\u201d<\/h2>\n

A classic, that about sums up the Upper West Side, which is located between Central Park<\/strong> and the Hudson River<\/strong>. And in classic New York fashion,<\/strong>\u00a0this upscale residential neighborhood<\/strong> attracts people with diverse passports across any and every generational line, inspiring a certain unity.<\/p>\n

In affluence, it\u2019s second to one that would be its eastside counterpart<\/a>; but the UWS (as insiders like to call it) is distinguished and coveted for its historic architecture<\/strong>, reminiscent of the era of arts and culture of 1920s and 1930s. Especially in the Central Park West Historic District, where the\u00a0luxury cooperatives<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0brownstones <\/strong>are simply stunning, like the breathtaking twin-towers of The Eldorado<\/strong>\u00a0and the 27-floor San Remo <\/strong>of Beaux-Art design. It only takes one tour of its elegant row houses, exquisite apartment complexes<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0like the Ansonia, the Apthorp, and the Beresford. And still, this classy ambiance continues to the streets. Whether strolling along the waterfront or getting lost in its miles of springtime flora, \u201cThe People\u2019s Republic of the Upper West Side\u201d caters to community, with its cafes, public art, playgrounds, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, as well as soccer and baseball fields \u2026 We can already see ourselves there.<\/p>\n

Long live the family!<\/h2>\n

The UWS is known for its extreme livability<\/strong>, and home of very successful professionals and their families. Bichon, the hardest to please, will find the utmost pleasure in his daily walks to Central Park, Riverside Park, or the Hippo Playground Project, while the rest of tribe takes turns pushing the stroller of the newest member. As for your little ones, this is where they were born to be. After a week studying in one of the country\u2019s most elite private schools,\u00a0<\/strong>Trinity School and Collegiate School, they\u2019ll enjoy weekend excursions to the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater for a bit of wonder and giggles, and then to the Children\u2019s Museum of Manhattan<\/strong>\u00a0for a range of activities that will prepare your sweet babies for a future on the board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. While you worry about that, they\u2019ll be begging for the crispy tenders at the kid-friendly eatery Chirping Chicken. And then, on your nod, straight to bed.<\/p>\n

UWS, Manhattan's cultural and artistic home<\/h2>\n

Where to begin? This neighborhood with such a profound cultural richness<\/strong>, it\u2019s difficult to present it all. However, it is the realm of Columbia University<\/strong>, the esteemed Ivy of the Big Apple, and it\u2019s campus with a unique atmosphere (we really recommend a little tour). And if your appetite for culture is still not satisfied, then to the \u00a0American Museum of Natural History<\/strong>. Still no? Then the Museum of Art and Design <\/strong>and New York Historical Society.<\/p>\n

Where are you going?\u00a0Not so fast, a show at the Lincoln Center<\/strong>, some arabesques at the New York City Ballet<\/strong>\u00a0or soft melodies at the New York Philharmonic or the Metropolitan Opera are also unmissable classics on the Upper West Side.<\/p>\n

And what about the foodies?<\/h2>\n

You are in the right place ! The brunchers (on Sunday, but not that) tipped us in on some good addresses: an intellectual brunch at the Storica Cafe, in the very heart of the\u00a0New York Historical Society<\/strong>\u00a0building, a brunch at water's edge at Pier i,<\/strong>\u00a0or an enormous brunch at Sarabeth\u2019s.<\/p>\n

But if you\u2019re not exactly a morning person, that\u2019s fine, too. Fine-dining and view of the Park awaits you at Jean-Georges<\/strong>, one of the world\u2019s top-rated French restaurants, outside of France (who would\u2019ve ever thought?). And by night, we give you 2 options: The Dead Poet\u00a0for glass named after the great Walt Whitman and Dizzy\u2019s Club Coca\u00a0for the sounds of Miles Davis. We\u2019d tell you to choose wisely, but that\u2019s not really necessary.<\/p>\n

The Upper West Side will be your new stomping grounds if \u2026<\/h4>\n
