Join SoBARNES on a trip to Normandy.<\/h4>\n<p>Christian Dior and roses, a love story that lasted a lifetime. While roses provided the inspiration for the woman-flower silhouette, first dreamed up in the family garden in Granville (Manche) before blossoming in 1947 during the House's first fashion show, it also formed part of the composition of numerous perfumes created as of 1947, starting with the very first among them, <em>Miss Dior<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This passion was the linchpin of Christian Dior\u2019s work, and left fashion, couture and design forever changed. Let us thus make haste and travel to Granville and his childhood home, Les Rhumbs, to take in the delights of the <em>Dior en roses <\/em>(*) exhibition:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dior Christian Dior\u2019s parents the year of his birth, Les Rhumbs villa, now the property of the town of Granville, is more than just a museum. This extraordinary time capsule commemorates the work and the person of this ingenious couturier day after day. A word of advice, take the time to revel in the garden, with its rose garden and pergola designed by Christian Dior. And don't miss the bed of \u201c<em>Jardin de Granville<\/em>\u201d roses, which originate from the <em>Rosa pimpinellifolia<\/em> that grows wild on the on the Granville coastline. Recognised for its olfactory properties, this rose is now grown for Christian Dior fragrances just a few miles from the museum!<\/p>\n<p>And because it\u2019s you, SoBARNES has concocted a memory aid to impress at dinner parties this summer:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christian Dior in 10 dates<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>21 January 1905\u00a0= Birth in Granville.<\/li>\n<li>1911 = The Dior family moves to Paris. The <em>Les Rhumbs <\/em>villa becomes a holiday home.<\/li>\n<li>1928 = Christian Dior opens a painting gallery where he exhibits Picasso, Braque, Matisse, Dufy and Dali, among others.<\/li>\n<li>1935 = He sells his fashion drawings to various milliners and couturiers and works as an illustrator for <em>Le Figaro<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>1938 = He becomes a pattern cutter for fashion designer Robert Piguet before joining Lucien Lelong.<\/li>\n<li>1946 = He launches his own Maison in December, financed by Marcel Boussac.<\/li>\n<li>12 February 1947 = Presentation of the first Maison Christian Dior haute couture collection: the <em>New Look <\/em>revolutionises the history of fashion.<\/li>\n<li>1947 = Creation of the fragrance <em>Miss Dior<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>1947-1957 = Christian Dior creates 22 haute couture collections that have since become legendary.
