Who said that the passion for cars was dead? Praised be the Italians, praised be the good city of Modena, which just gave birth to a (magnificent) baby no one was expecting: lo, the MC20.

With its presentation already postponed by a few months due to the pandemic, the MC20 was eagerly awaited by enthusiasts around the world. It has been more than 15 years since Maserati had produced a supercar; the legendary MC12 in 2004. And now here comes its little sister, the MC20, an aerodynamic sculpture equipped with a 3.0 L V6 engine with 630 horsepower and 729 Nm of torque. The brand has announced an acceleration speed of 0 to 100 km/h (60mph) in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 323 km/h (200mph). All this preferably on the track.

What about its style? That’s up to you to judge, but at the risk of sounding biased, let’s just say straight off that we love it! With a dash of McLaren fluidity, a hint of Ferrari felicity, a few drops of Jaguar elegance and of course the Maserati DNA as a basic ingredient, you’ve got a cocktail to be consumed without moderation. And for an exciting twist to this drink – a first for the brand – butterfly wing doors, which are the best way to open wide the access to a sports car interior (and, let’s admit it, the most spectacular).

Light (less than 1,500 kg - 3,307 lb) thanks to its carbon fibre bodywork, and powerful thanks to the 630 horsepower of its new engine baptised Nettuno (Neptune, the Roman god of turbulent waters, inseparable from his trident, itself the emblem of Maserati, so the circle is complete!), the MC20 is equipped with streamlined aerodynamics that allow it to dispense with any unsightly appendages. In any case for its road version, as the brand is announcing that this car will be the one to return to competition on the racing circuit.
