A fresh breath of Greece in New York

While shopping in Nolita, we wanted to take a break at Greecologies, for a breath of fresh air.

We love the concept: "We are what we eat eats." Even if we didn’t quite understand the words at first. Only by pushing the door, we knew that it will do ourselves some good to savor one of their delicious Greek yogurt recipes.

But be careful, there is Greek yoghurt and Greek YAOURT, and Greecologies, as it’s well known. This lovely brand advocates organic and all-natural goods, in respect for food and animals. Everything is home-made on site. The milk is delivered 3 times a week by Rose, the owner of grass-fed cows. It’s no cliché, but seriously, the taste of their yogurts is incomparable. So much that if you close your eyes, you may hear the meuhhh of cows in New York. Concentrate...

Once there, step out of your comfort zone and try one of their many combinations. This morning, it will be an unstrained yogurt with figs, nuts, Chia seeds, and thyme honey accompanied by a delicious Cocoa Butter Coffee. We give in.

Luckily, or out of curiosity, we pushed the back door and we discovered a patio terrace: there, a small corner of greenery with cozy stone tables in the heart of Manhattan awaited us ... Sure, we’ll return for lunch and enjoy a sandwich of the vegetarian market or a Kale salad with quinoa, lentils, Persian cucumbers, almonds and cranberries and its chamomile vinaigrette. Spread the word: sad salads do not exist in Greecologies.

You understand, it’s our favorite place. For a little coffee (Ethiopian, Rwandan or Italian) or, perhaps, a jar of Rose Petals Preserve, certainly for a fabulous Greek yoghurt. And excellent news, Greecologies will have its little, opening soon in East Village NY.
