Laura Harrier puts a twist on Vuitton

Because we need to keep looking to tomorrow, Louis Vuitton has chosen actress Laura Harrier to incarnate the Spring 2021 collection of its iconic Twist bag. SoBARNES gives you the inside line on the campaign.

At a time when luxury brands seem rather unprepared in the face of the persistent crisis currently shaking the planet, Louis Vuitton has brought a welcome breath of fresh air in the form of this film starring Laura Harrier. The 30-year old American actress who previously posed for Vuitton in 2019 has injected this Twist Spring 2021 campaign with her youthful energy and smile.

Created in 2015, the Twist quickly became one of Louis Vuitton’s most recognizable bags. Its name comes from its LV twist-lock, designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, the brand’s Artistic Director of Women's collections.

So what’s new for this spring 2021 model? Subtle variations: fine chain, wide strap embroidered with monogram flowers, leather handle and new shades. That’s all it took to bring the Twist back into the spotlight. Well, that and the one-minute video shot on Malibu beach (California):

Laura Harrier dancing on the legendary Malibu pontoon, running along the beach, ordering a vanilla ice cream (known as a twist, of course) on the pier, all while sporting a Twist bag across the shoulder, before opting for a chic black Twist to wear for the evening. An animated presentation of the new collection to be savoured!

And the SoBARNES detail, you ask? The Louis Vuitton skimboard carried by Laura Harrier actually exists in real life and is available in the brand’s Californian stores as well as the store on Place Vendôme in Paris.

And because we know you’re all scratching your heads over the question “what’s that song that sounds so familiar?”, we’ll give you the answer: Filme moi, released by Parisian artist Alice et Moi in 2017:
