Tiamo Resorts: Relais & Châteaux comes to the Bahamas

As of 1 August 2020, the 5-star Tiamo Resorts hotel in South Andros, Bahamas, will have the honour of joining the Relais & Châteaux network, the first resort in the Bahamas to join this exclusive club.

BAHAMAS - South Andros is one of the world’s most renowned diving spots, home to the third-largest barrier reef. The perfect place to get back to nature, this chic hotel is set in a secluded cove between a private beach and the lush vegetation. Accessible solely by boat or seaplane, the 11 Bahamian villas are designed to help guests recharge their batteries, whether lounging on a deckchair under the coconut trees as they gaze out across the turquoise waters, or taking a trek through the mangrove. An enchanting destination that is sure to delight lovers of nature, diving, family relaxation and those with a soft spot for romance.

And because the times have changed, respect for the environment of this idyllic island is now a top priority at Tiamo Resorts. Mimicking the local style, the villas nestled in a haven of greenery along a private beach provide front-row seats to the sunset and feature natural, local materials, including pine wood and palm leaves for the roofs. The hotel has significantly reduced the use of plastic goods since 2018, as part of its National Geographic ‘Unique Lodges’ membership, and has undertaken to implement ecological actions that are reviewed and assessed during two surprise inspections every year. All of this on top of its reputation as a water sports paradise: transparent canoes to admire the ocean depths, a sailing boat, a boat with a private captain to explore the surroundings and the coral reef, tuba or scuba diving to encounter sea turtles and dolphins... Not to mention the fishing - Andros is the bonefish and tarpon salt water capital of the world. The island’s nature guide can recommend hikes to discover 330 bird species, 20 orchid varieties as well as iguanas, egrets, herons and a multitude of fish

Last but not least, because this is a Relais & Châteaux after all, the cuisine exudes elegance under the leadership of Chef Keith Rolle, a native of the Bahamas, who serves a mouthwatering menu combining the best of island culture and the French touch. What could be more #SoBARNES?
