The answer to your dilemma, in Portugal

You really want to spend your retirement under the Portuguese sun but you don't want to sacrifice the charming mansion where you’ve lived for so many beautiful years. The ideal would be to find one near Cascais. You'd need a lot of rooms because you’ve got a large tribe. Between children and their children, the friends of children and the friends of grandchildren... that would make a lot of people to house. The grounds would have to be large, at least 1.6 acres for playing football and croquet. Of course, it would need to have the charm of Portuguese buildings, azulejos on the walls, and an interior patio for coolness. There must be a spacious dining room for family meals. An office for your husband, since he still has business to attend to. A terrace accessible from the upper floors, from which you could see the sea. Another must: a view of the sea, otherwise, what’s the point of making this major move?  And what kind of self-respecting mansion would it be without exquisite parquet floors? An old pink facade, green shutters... because that’s always charmed you. But wherever could you find something like that?
