The life of a king in Provence

You’ve been fascinated by King Louis XIV since you were little. Perhaps because you grew up opposite Versailles Palace and used to play in the park and fountains, or perhaps because you were both in awe of and slightly perplexed by the idea of a king who was also a sun? Whatever the reason, this property in the north of Aix-en-Provence has something of Versailles about it... The almost 5 acres of parkland planted with southern species like cypress, bay, plane and olive trees could easily be taken from Le Nôtre’s gardening manual. The trees and pathways accentuate the perspective, and even the pool seems to want to compete with a canal. The pool house and guest house blend into the surroundings so as not to steal the limelight of the 4,090 sq ft house with its high ceilings, its elegant details and its noble materials, which takes centre stage on the estate. You may not be the Sun King, but the future certainly looks bright!
